Successful Applicants of the Public Health in Art Fund (Trafford)

Trafford Community Collective (the Collective) on behalf of Trafford Council is very pleased to announce that the following local organisations and their partners have been successful in applying for Public Health in Art (Trafford) funding.

The successful applicants are:

1. Altrincham Creative Bereavement Support Group brought to you by Inch Arts and Full Circle Funerals Altrincham This is a creative support group, leading participants through a number of activities, encouraging the use of creativity to support wellbeing following bereavement.  Sessions will be held at Inch Arts Studios on Stamford New Road and led by Olivia Goodwin, Creative and Therapeutic Art Facilitator.  No previous experience of art or creative skill is required and the group will operate as a safe environment in which people can work at their own pace and explore thoughts and feelings that may flow from the activities.  The group is open to anyone who has experienced loss and bereavement at any time.  All sessions are free to attend and all materials are included.  Numbers are limited to 12 spaces to facilitate individual attention and tuition.  Please book in advance by visiting Eventbrite: and email with any questions.

  ‘The idea of the group is to offer an opportunity to explore and express emotions that can be difficult to put into words’.

 2. Music and mental health sessions brought to you by Seed Studios and String of Heart  

The funding will be used to support older adults with mental health problems to overcome isolation through music. Seed Studios will collaborate with String of Hearts, hosting 12 free music-making workshops for six months in both of our Old Trafford and Broomwood Community Wellbeing Centres. These sessions will enable older adults at risk of social isolation every month to experience increased health & wellbeing, build lasting relationships and remain active in their community. We will collaborate with Trafford Choices to deliver two music, culture and food events celebrating local diversity‘.

3. Art&Soul brought to you by Gorse Hill Studios

This is a 12-week multi arts project called ‘Art and Soul’ which will be geared around supporting young people ages 7-11 with their wellbeing and creativity for better mental health, to boost confidence and increase a sense of belonging for those who really need it!

It starts Monday 22nd January and will be on each Monday weekly at 16:30-18:00.

If your child is struggling with bullying at school, anxiety, low mood, feeling lonely or isolated, in need of extra support for any reason, care experienced, a young carer, refugee, on free school meals, have additional needs or disabilities or in need of a calming setting, developing social skills, mindfulness techniques, make friends or build a positive mindset. This project is for them! Book on now! We will be working with two local artists and youth workers each week, engaging in art activities, learning new creative skills, practicing mindfulness, talking through problems, looking to the future, learning coping skills and most importantly having fun, socialising and making new friends. We will have a little art exhibition for friends and family at the end of the project to share what we have been doing and show off their skills and creations! This is a project funded by Trafford Community Collective and Trafford Council- Public Health in Art Fund Grant. Thanks to them these sessions are free!
