Making volunteering more accessible in our communities

Making volunteering more accessible in our communities

The Trafford Community Collective is working with Trafford’s six community hubs to support and promote volunteering in our local communities.

Our volunteer coordinators based in each of the hubs have built up a wealth of knowledge on volunteering opportunities in their neighbourhood by working closely with the local VCFSE sector. Our volunteer coordinators use this information to support local residents to find them a range of suitable roles to meet their individual needs. We work together and share our knowledge with Thrive Trafford to help with volunteer brokerage across our borough.

Launching at our members’ meeting this week, we’ve used our shared database to create 6 neighbourhood reports.

Each report features a summary of volunteering opportunities for that part of Trafford and all the reports include Trafford-wide roles too. We hope the reports will be useful for support workers helping their clients to find volunteering roles (e.g. social prescribers, social care link workers, jobcentre staff) or for any member of the public interested in browsing a list of local opportunities.

You can find the reports on our brand new webpage dedicated to community volunteering in Trafford, where you can also get in touch with your local volunteer coordinator.

This is just the first stage for us in making volunteering in our local communities more accessible.
We’ll be back with further updates as our project progresses!
